Mr Dean Lawler - Senior Physiotherapist / Senior Accredited Exercise Physiologist Dean has been a physiotherapist for over 17 years & an exercise physiologist for over 20 years. He has worked in private practice for over 15 years in Port Macquarie. He established Laurieton Sports & Spinal Physiotherapy Clinic in 2008 & then followed this with an expansion into the Lake Cathie practice in 2009. He opened his third clinic in Port Macquarie in 2012, combining the Sports &Spinal Physiotherapy Clinic with the opening of The Headache Clinic in 2011 with Mark Matheson. Dean completed his Exercise Science (Sports Science) degree at the University of NSW in 1992 & followed this with his Physiotherapy degree at the University of Sydney in 1997. He has a clinical interest in headaches, chronic lower back pain & motor control of the lumbar spine. Dean utilises diagnostic real-time ultrasound to evaluate & treat chronic lower back pain. He also has expertise with shoulder injuries & knee pain. Mr Mark Matheson - Senior Physiotherapist / Senior Accredited Exercise Physiologist Mark has been with the Sports & Spinal Physiotherapy team for about 18 months, having moved to Port Macquarie from Perth with his family. After completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Fremantle’s Notre Dame University in 2009, Mark worked at Hollywood Private Hospital in Perth. In July 2011, Mark completed a Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Handling and will be continuing this study in 2013, undertaking his postgraduate studies in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Mark has been awarded a scholarship from SARRAH (Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health) to assist with this study. Mark is also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) at the University of Canberra in 2004. Mark worked as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in Canberra & Perth. Throughout his career Mark has gained experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries, headaches & spinal dysfunction. He also has expertise in providing orthopaedic pre & post-surgery programs, Workcover programs & injury prevention & functional rehabilitation programs. ^ Less
